WHY is the WOOD MEAN?
GEMEIN means COMMON or ORDINARY in german - synonymous for ordinary and also local wood.
GEMEIN means also gnarled, stubborn, knotty, resinous, rotten or rock-hard.
I mostly use fallen wood of any condition. So sometimes the wood is not just ordinary common, but also mean.
I don't need a lot of material for my work. I usually find this in sufficient quantities and in great variety in Stuttgart and the surrounding area.
As a botanist who has been active in evolutionary research for a long time, I attach great importance to diversity and sustainability.
